Ministry Descriptions

Altar Server

If you are in Grade 3 or above, we hope that you will prayerfully consider becoming an Altar Server.  This is a very important ministry, to serve the priest at the altar and therefore serve the people of St. Agnes Church.  Youth interested in altar serving will receive either one-on-one training with the Pastor or in a group setting.  As part of this ministry's training, you will shadow experienced Servers at masses before being placed on the schedule.  We want you to be comfortable with this service and want you to know that there are many people in place who will welcome you and offer to help in any way.  For more information or to sign up to be an altar server contact Michelle Goldner at 781-942-7663 or email at

Baptism Preparation

The Baptism Preparation team meets with new parents to prepare them for the formation of their child’s faith.  Parent meetings are held on the first Friday of each month, at 7:00pm in our Parish Center.  Parents are asked to attend a Parent meeting prior to the child's baptism.  Please call the Parish Office to schedule the Baptism Preparation meeting and to schedule your child's baptism.  781.944.0490

Children's Liturgy of the Word
Many families with children attend the 9:00am Sunday Mass.  Children are invited to gather around the altar to break open the Word in a manner in which children can relate.

Engaged Couples Program

Our Engaged Couples program is designed to provide realistic views and positive reinforcement about marriage for couples that are preparing for marriage. Our team of married couples, which ranges in longevity from 1 year to 25 years of marriage, provides personal life stories through frank and open discussions on topics such as Communication, Finances, Spirituality, Intimacy and Sexuality, Fidelity and Commitment and What to Expect during the First Year of Marriage. These discussions are intended to give insight and real world solutions to the most important aspects of marriage by promoting dialogue between the team and the engaged couples, while trying to help the Engaged Couples learn more about themselves and as a couple. Most importantly, we discuss the Sacrament of Marriage and the importance of sharing their marriage with God to ensure a fulfilling and content union. Our weekend program concludes with Mass and a candlelight ceremony. For further information, please contact David Palmerino at 781-617-7929 or at

Within our purview are life issues, including abortion, the death penalty, euthanasia, assisted suicide and adult versus embryonic stem cell research; also family issues, including sanctity of marriage, parental control of sex education, abstinence education, natural family planning, pregnancy/single parent support, and restricting the spread of casino gambling. The ministry has hosted talks by prominent speakers including Linda Thayer on “The Massachusetts Health Education Frameworks,” Dr. Peter Kreeft on “How to Win the Culture War” and “How to Make Good Choices,” Archdiocesan attorney Henry Luthin on “End of Life Issues” and the legal dangers of physician-assisted suicide, and Archdiocesan Respect Life Office leader Marianne Luthin on “Project Rachel.” The ministry sponsors a January Baby Bottle Drive in support of the Pregnancy Care Center, World Marriage Sunday in February, and the Reading Walk For Life in June. For more information on the ministry, contact Jonathan Nauman at 978-922-7015 or
